    HONG KONG, July 31 (Reuter) - Two of Hong Kong's top judges want the use of
the drug cannabis legalised.
     One High Court judge, Justice Godfrey, said the ban made no sense while
alcohol and tobacco were legal, the South China Sunday Morning Post reported.
     "I am for decriminalisation," Godfrey, 61, said. "Since human beings are
allowed to smoke themselves to death with cigarettes they ought to be allowed to

   ALPINE, Texas, July 20 (UPI) - Three people, one of them a former jailer,
have been arrested on charges of taking drugs and alcohol into the Brewster
County Jail, which was closed May 31 because of lax security.
   Officials arrested Carolyn Sue Wagner and Carmen Alexandria Brown Tuesday on
charges of taking prohibited substances into the jail. Wagner was accused of
carrying marijuana into the jail, and Brown allegedly took wine into the
facility.

circa  06/30/94      Police in a pickle over plastic pot plant

     CHELTENHAM, England (Reuter) - Hairdresser Rob Andrews sparked a police
raid when he put a plastic pot plant in his salon window.
     Officers were tipped off that the plant was marijuana but quickly realised
the mistake when they raided the premises in this western English town.
     "They went over to it and realised straightaway that it was plastic. I
don't think they were very amused," Andrews said after the police had left.
